Makkah to Madinah, one setup

On Umrah, internet is not a luxury, it is the bond with family itself: video calls home from the Haram, messages in your group's chat, directions between the hotel and Masjid al-Haram, and the appointments in the Nusuk app; all of it needs a connection.

Saudi Arabia is one of the most expensive places to roam on a home SIM, whether you are travelling from the UK, the US or Europe, and over a 10 to 15 day Umrah programme the bill reaches serious figures. With a Saudi Arabia eSIM set up at home before you leave, you are connected the moment you land at Jeddah or Madinah airport; no kiosk queue, no registration.

10 GBfor a 10-15 day Umrah

How much data do you need?

For a 10 to 15 day Umrah programme we recommend 10 GB: daily video calls with family, group messaging and directions included. If your video calls run long, an unlimited package gives peace of mind; hotel Wi-Fi around the Haram is unreliable at busy hours.

Frequently asked

What is coverage like in Makkah and Madinah?

Coverage is strong in both cities; the eSIM uses the local operators' networks. Around Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi the network can slow at peak times (especially in Ramadan); that is congestion everyone in the area experiences, whichever SIM they hold.

Can I make video calls to my family?

Yes; WhatsApp messaging and calls are widely used over mobile data in Saudi Arabia. Video calls are the biggest item in data use, which is why our package recommendation is on the high side.

Does the Nusuk app need internet?

Yes. Bookings such as the Rawdah visit appointment are made in the Nusuk app and need an active internet connection. With your eSIM you can check your appointment time from anywhere.

I am travelling with a group; can I get help setting up the eSIM?

Setup is a single QR code scan, and after purchase we send step-by-step instructions in English. We recommend setting it up at home on Wi-Fi before you leave, so you are not fiddling with it at the airport while your group waits.

Is the same package suitable for Hajj?

Yes, the packages are the same. Hajj programmes run longer, so you can choose a larger package or add a top-up during your stay.
