Three acts, one setup
The classic Spain route plays in three acts: the museums and evening walks of Madrid, the courtyards of Seville and Granada in Andalusia, and Gaudí in Barcelona for the finale. In eight days you see more than one country; you see three different Spains.
On this route internet is not a luxury, it is the ticket: places like the Alhambra and the Sagrada Família sell on your phone weeks ahead, not at the door; the menu in the tapas bar is a QR code; high-speed train tickets between cities are bought in an app. A UK, US or Australian SIM pays its carrier's roaming rate in Spain like anywhere else in the EU; with the Spain eSIM you are on a local network the moment you land at Barajas.
How much data do you need?
For an eight-day tour, 5 GB is comfortable: maps, ticket apps, QR menus and social media included. If you want to stream series on the train without downloading first, go up to 10 GB.
Frequently asked
I am visiting three cities; does one package work everywhere?
Yes. The Spain eSIM works across the whole country; moving from Madrid to Seville and on to Barcelona needs no settings at all. Coverage on the high-speed train is generally good too.
Why is internet essential for Alhambra and Sagrada Família tickets?
Both run on a daily visitor quota and sell their tickets online; finding a ticket on the day is rarely possible. For time changes and QR tickets during the trip, your phone needs to be connected.
The Canary Islands or the Balearics are on my route; are they covered?
Yes; the Spain eSIM is valid across all Spanish territory, including Mallorca, Ibiza and the Canary Islands.
I am in the EU; why does my home SIM still cost so much?
The EU's 'roam like at home' rule only applies to SIMs issued in EU countries. A UK, US, Canadian or Australian carrier is not part of that agreement, so it charges its usual roaming rate in Spain too.
