Island to island, one setup
Fly into Athens and take the ferry from Piraeus to the Cyclades, or land directly on Rhodes, Crete, Kos or Santorini and hop onward from there. The Greek islands are made for moving: a few nights here, a morning ferry, a few nights there.
Even a short island break needs plenty of internet: ferry times, restaurant recommendations, maps, and of course the photos from the waterfront. Roaming on your home SIM is expensive even for a weekend, and hunting for a SIM shop on arrival steals the first hours of the holiday. Set up the Greece eSIM at home before you fly; the moment you step onto the island, you are connected.
How much data do you need?
A weekend break (2 to 4 days) needs 1 to 2 GB. For a week of island hopping with maps and social media, 3 to 5 GB is comfortable. Do not count on your hotel's Wi-Fi; island hotel connections are often weak.
Frequently asked
When should I set up the eSIM?
Before you leave, while you are on Wi-Fi at home. The package usually activates the first time you connect to a Greek network, so an early setup does not start the clock early; your days begin on the island (the activation rule is stated in the package details).
Will I have internet on the ferry?
Close to the coast you will usually pick up a land network; in open water the signal can drop. On the shorter crossings (many island hops take 1 to 3 hours) this is rarely a problem, and the eSIM finds the Greek network again as the ferry approaches port.
I am visiting several islands; do I need a separate package for each?
No. The Greece eSIM is valid across the whole country; from Rhodes to Santorini, whichever island you move to, the same package keeps working.
Do I need to show a passport or register to buy the eSIM?
No. Buying an eSIM needs no ID or passport; the QR code arrives by email after payment.
